In the far-flung future of the year 2000, a fascist U.S. government
has turned driving into a blood sport, a national pastime designed to
thin out the population and give a violence-crazed public a heaping
helping of gory distraction ... a DEATH RACE 2000!
Legendary B-movie producer Roger Corman and quirky director Paul
Bartel pull out all the stops in this crazy, violent, twisted
futuristic action flick that's blessed with a deeply subversive edge.
In the annual cross-country Death Race competition, a cast of
colorfully-demented professional drivers must hit and kill
pedestrians for points, and the rules are, there are no rules! Who
will be crowned Death Race champion? Will it be the mysterious, black-
masked Frankenstein (David Carradine)? Could it be Machine Gun Joe
(Sylvester Stallone) or Calamity Jane (Mary Woronov)? Or will radical
political activists sabatoge the competition and bring about the end
of Death Race?
