Randy, The hatchboard I built that has the binocular and radio holder is 6 1/2" high.
I can't tell you what the size of the lower hatchboard is because it is on the boat which is buried under it's winter cover. It could well be that I kept it as low as possible - while still fulfilling it's other functions - to make getting in and out of the cabin easy.
