Hmm .... I don't know about the M15, but in an M17 it depends a lot on the wave/water conditions. I find if you can reduce sail enough, even down to a handkerchief-sized storm jib, if the wave conditions are not too bad it's quite manageable. I've found the worst conditions when beating in heavy weather and the waves are at about 45 degrees to the wind, causing a wild rolling motion on one tack and a head-on soaker on the other.
In spite of that gloomy comment, I'm looking forward to going out tomorrow: the sun is shining and the forecast is for "winds easterly 5 to 15 knots rising to 15 to 20 overnight. Winds easing to light Sunday afternoon. Cloudy periods. Outlook. Moderate easterlies easing to light.
