Long shaft 4 or 5 Hp should be fine anything more than 6 Hp will be too much - weight, size and the motor will pull the transom into the water (wet feet in the cockpit). I think you will find Eugene's boat a good one. Good Luck Gary O. M-17 #316A Blue Goose using an Evinrude Yachtwin 4
