I have a 4hp 2-stroke on my M17 and want to upgrade to a 4-stroke. I'm wondering whether a lesser hp engine will work. Since I would very much like to have the optional battery charging system, I guess 4 or 5 hp is the lowest I can go anyway.
In some of the places I sail (Like Morro Bay) the first thing that hits bottom is the rudder on my 1974 M17. Has anyone got ideas on how to modify the rudder some that it either pivots back or can be pulled up partially? Thanks.
