Bud, Congratulations on your new ownership. The archive does have a posting from Jerry Montgomery on the right length to tie off the stopper knot.
The line for the centerboard control should be a non-stretch braided Dacron. I found a local launching area which has a hoist. If the stern and bow cleats are original and tight you can lift the empty M15 from the bow and stern cleats. I also ran lines from the hoist around the hull in front and in back of the keel just to be safe. The braided Dacron line should have the core removed for the first three inches. A stopper knot will be tied in the remaining outer braid once you have threaded the line down from the cockpit, through the keel area, through the back edge of the center-board (pre-drilled hole should already be there)and into the 50 cent size hole in the side of the center-board near the top rear. You then tie the stopper knot and snug it up in the 50 cent size hole. The stopper knot should not extend beyond either side of the centerboard or it will jamb when raised. If your centerboard does not have three pre drilled holes one for the forward pin, one for the stopper knot and one for the line to pass through from the keel, you have a different problem.
