The book "Frugal Yachting" by Larry Brown has some photos of conestoga tents with small pvc pipe used for the supports.
I have thought about using fishing rod holders, flag pole holders or oar lock sockets to hold up such a tent. The conestoga style would have an advantage with head room. An advangtage of the boom tent design is it may be set over the mast when trailer camping. Steve R.
