Hi Rusty,

Installing latches on my sail lockers is one of the first things I did
when I got the boat. I also put closed cell foam on the lids so that the
sail locker seals properly.

My latches are from WEST - don't remember the P/N - but I installed them
so that it takes a bit of force to open them.

The idea was, if I close the latches while sailing, I can still open them
to get at something, but they don't just flop down by themselves and
leave the sail lockers open.

In the remote event of a knockdown, sail locker lids should remain
closed.

One of the first - and main - rule of sailing is KEEP THE WATER OUTSIDE
THE HULL - and don't let it come inside.............!

If you can't firmly latch your sail lockers closed, you have violated
Rule No. 1!

Connie
