Thanks for the idea. I do not have any available garage space so I am stuck outside on the concrete. I am thinking of building a wooden cradle that can be jacked up on heavy legs and large pins thru pre-drilled holes. One strap goes just in front of the shoal keel and the other behind the keel. This would be a lot of assembly so I may have to think of alternatives. I am still open to any suggestions folks. ------Larry #189

If you can gain access to a shop area I have some help for you. I have some used crane slings rated at I believe 20 tons. I used a couple of them to lift my Alumaweld jet sled off the trailor. I'm in San Francisco and would be happy to UPS a couple to you with the understanding I want them back when you're finished. Two will weigh in at 10 or so pounds, so UPS wont be to bad. I doubled up a couple of the 2X6 rafters and added removeable verticle supports on each side of the width of the trailor. The sled weighs over 2000 pounds so I was careful to over build. My guess is I would have felt safe with alot less if the boat weighed 750 pounds. I borrowed a couple of chain binders (come alongs) and since I used only one on each sling the boat healed as it came up, but not to badly as I lifted it only a couple of feet. If your doing bottom work on the boat you may want to think about four of the binders so the boat can be lifted flat. The project came off pretty straight forward and I'd do it that way again if I needed to lift the boat off the trailor. PS and by the way... these slings come with no warranty expressed or implied and all liability for any misshaps will be on the user of the slings.
