Steve:
The low speed torque in the turbo Forester is great! It's almost like having another gear in the transmission. The turbo requires premium gasoline (91 octane or better). I get 20 to 23 mpg driving on the road with no real load; and I averaged 16.71 mpg towing my M15 from Pullman to Anacortes and back (808 miles round trip) over the Cascade Mountains at 60-70 mpg (yes, even 60 mph up the grades).

I've been lusting after a Forrester turbo ever since they came out. What kind of mileage do you get with that rocket? Is the bottom end torque as good as
it sounds?

I tow my M15 (Vanilla) with a Subaru Forester. The 165 HP, plain jane L
model handled it ok, but the S model has 4-wheel disk brakes that stop
it better. Currently, I have a Forester with a turbo in it (210 HP),
and hardly know the boat is back there--just finished the 800 mile
round-trip Pullman- to- Anacortes and the 2-week sail with the Monty
group in the San Juan and Gulf Islands.
