I installed a swim platform (West Marine 280990) and found that the single step ladder was all but impossible to use. I removed it and replaced it with a telescoping 3 step ladder ( West Marine Model 5497045). I reinforced the platform with a hardwood slat under each side to distribute the load. It folds over and stows on top of the platform. I can send a picture of the installation if you like.
