I thought about doing it and decided not to as well. I installed a vent in the foredeck of an AMF2100 and used a nice teak round and contoured it to fit the deck. It was difficult and it never quite looked nice.
I overnight a lot in my M15 and find that if I anchor by the stern, and keep the hatch open and the boards out that I usually sleep pretty comfortably. A vent would not help. If it gets cold I close the upper hatch and might put one of the two boards in but never both. I use a small 5 x 7 nylon rain/ dew shield over the hatch opening to keep out any rain. I use a full no-seeum screen, 3 sides have small lead weights, running from 6 inches in front of the mast all the way to the bridge deck. no mosquito's, nice breeze if there is any to be had and no leaking holes in the deck.
