Fran,

I'll add a couple more things:

One thing that could make the project a wee bit more difficult is if the
pulpit-maker wasn't careful in using fixtures to ensure that the legs of
the pulpit end up where they are supposed to be. On one pulpit I
removed, a leg had been forced into position because when it had been
welded the leg wasn't properly aligned.

When locating the pulpit, watch that the bolts will come into the cabin
in a good place, i.e., not on the EDGE of the deck coring or, worse yet,
into the edge of the hull. Or that the front of the pulpit isn't at
risk of smacking anything on the trailer. Those are the sorts of
mistakes I'm prone to making.

Here's a picture of a 15, Storm Petrel, and BuscaBrisas in the
background. In both cases the bow pulpit is ever-so-slightly forward of
the projection of the stem.

Hi ,
How doable is it to install a bow pulpit on an older M15 that never
had
one? What disadvantages are there to not having one on the boat?

Fran
