How about fabricating a couple wooden thumb blocks and attaching them to
the spreaders. Snag the halyards on the blocks after you've tightened
them down on their repsective cleats and waalaa, no noise. t

Subject: M_Boats: What is best way to quiet mast wires?

Hi All:

Well, we finally re-launched our as yet unnamed Monty 17. She now looks
"almost new". Re-rigging is next. As our boat lives in a slip, the wires
in the mast frequently create a lot of slapping noise. While the mast is
off, I'd like to quiet the wires and have thought of several ways to do
it, but would appreciate receiving suggestions from those of you who
have done it successfully and inexpensively.

I appreciate all of your replies.
