Congratulations, Joe!  You'll love "Midnight Passage" and I can't 
wait to see photos.  I probably sail as bare bones as anyone- the 
requisite PFDs, a small gas tank (1 gallon normally), an oar or 
paddle in case of no wind and no engine, and a few safety items such 
as fire extinguisher and air horn.  Oh, and if you launch from a 
dock, you'll want bumpers.
