I would get some expert advice before I attempted to suspend an M-17 by
either the alum. toe rails or the chain plates, I am relatively sure
that neither were designed for that purpose. . Even totally unloaded
my 17 weights in at about 1500 lbs and I personally would not try
either method but rather would lift with hull slings and chain falls
designed for the weight. I plan to pull my centerboard next month and
have arranged with the local boatyard to lift the boat to a cradle for
the work. What ever you do however make sure the boat is secured by
failsafe methods before you work under it. Kind regards and good
