I would certainly consider Jerry Montgomery an expert and therefore
disregards my concerns.
Further to my "project": my Montgomery 17 (a 1977 model) has a
stuck centerboard which I want to free up and rebuild. I found a good
article in the last issue of "Small Craft Advisor" which gives me some
help however i need a little more info. How much ground clearance
below the keel will I need to remove the c-board? I will be
temporarily support the boat in a home built cradle but need to design
it with adaquate ground clearance. Additionally, I read where the 79
Monty had a cast iron keel, what should i expect on my 1977 Monty?
