When I operated a marina, I (we) would float mooring anchors (concrete blocks reinforced with steel- approx weight was calculated at 1200+#) to the mooring field on large slabs of Styrofoam approx 18"-24" by 5' by 5'. The block was set on the foam off -center, and when we got to the desired location in the water we would capsize the foam and 'launch' the concrete. Always BIG fun for us boys at the boatyard! A couple hundred feet (usually 150' to 200') of 5/16 proof coil and swivels attached with a 24" Jim-Buoy mooring ball - lotsa RUCKUS. Yes one or two were 'launched ' prematurely - and subsequently recovered to be relocated. Big fun - Thank You for allowing an older guy to reminisce. GO
