Kendall, The mast should have some rake, i.e. the top toward the stern. I use the top hole on the head stay and third (I think) on the side stays.
My original CB pin is visible on the port side, but it goes in from starboard and, I believe, is tapered. It hasn't moved yet. It isn't broke so I'm not fixing it.
