Something for newbies to remember when trailer launching: If you take off the
trailer lights, or use submersibles, either way,?it is very important to
disconnect the trailer connection?from your tow vehicle when launching. This
will keep you from possibly blowing hot light bulbs when you put the brakes in
the water. Heat or a bad connection can transfer from your vehicle to water
which is a no-no. When I sold the boat, I was going through the piles of spares
and must have found half a dozen opened packages of trailer bulbs from
on-the-road repairs....

OBTW, remember to check your trailer wheel bearings at the same time.

someone in SCRED's past was motivated to make connecters between the trailer
tail lights and the wires running on the frame.

the lights are those 'cheap' kind you can find in a kits for $29.99. they
are
_are not_ waterproof. it is nothing to disconnect the wires using the
connecters and using a wrench to take the lights off the frame (this is one of
the 'old' steel trailerlights). the time is 1min or so to remove or re-attach.

i also like this as when i store the boat i remove the lights. this is one
less reason for a thief to take the boat ... no lights on the trailer a likely
(i hope) cause a COP to notice.

What are you skippers using for trailer lights. I now have a light bar that
I take off at launch time.
The problem is that it has been known to come off the trailer when hauling
the boat and drag down the hwy pulled by the wires :(.

Any one using LED's ? Are they waterproof? Where do you skippers get them.
