Hi Rick....

Just so you know...the backstay adjuster uses the inner holes on each of the
stern mounted chainplates.

The outer holes are for the split backstay.

rudder questionTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]'ve
owned M-17 #633 for almost a year, and have wondered from time to time what the
eye-strap and cam cleat on the top of the transom were originally intended for!
I am using the eye-strap as the lower anchor of a backstay tensioner, and the
cam cleat to make fast a line holding the swim ladder, but Bob's revelation
makes me now want to try using my fixed rudder, (which has been stored in my
garage). The Ida Sailor kick-up I have been using is great for responding to
slight touches on the bottom or floating debris (I sail the Potomac near DC,
and that's not so unusual), but is a bear to get back down in a good breeze
without heaving to. That's OK when cruising, not so good when racing. Thanks,
Bob, for solving the mystery of the extra hardware! Since I think the
eye-strap will do double duty for the rudder lift line and the backstay
tensioner, I'll give the fixed rudder a try!RickM-17 #633 Lynne
