I have the same problem with my Yahmaha 4 (4 stroke).  From what I 
understand, the design on the 4 strokes is such that if laid on the wrong side, 
the oil 
leaks into the cylinder.  When this happens - and it seems to happen on mine 
even if it is laid down  on the right side - what I do is put down some oil 
absorbing cloth and then pull the spark plug.  I clean the spark plug while the 
oil darins out and after it stops draining oil and the spark plug reinserted, 
the motor usually starts after a few pulls.
