I made a full awning for my NS and will definitely make one for Seafrog, my
M-17. It was a very simple design. I used 4 part tent poles that had a
shock cord running through to ease putting them together (Walmart) A friend
made the awning with Sunbrella. It was 13' X 8'. It had sleeves sewn at
each end for the tentpoles to slide into. Tabs were made to tie one end at
the mast and the other end at the back stay (right at the split) A loop was
sewn in the middle which was attached by the main halyard. The corners,
held athwartship via the tentpoles were then tied down to the rail. I'm
thinking of doing the same thing but also put in a zipper around the
perimeter with a recess of a couple inches and zip in rip stop sides. But
if it isn't raining and all I need is to keep the bugs away, I have a double
cot size mosquito net.
Now if I could just figure out a way to hang my hammock in the cockpit...
