Can you just raise the boom?  I kept all my reefing lines running on just 
the sail and boom.  No lines run to the mast or cabin top.  This way I can 
raise the boom completely up and out of the way and then run the awning 
underneath.  The boom isn't used at all for holding up the awning.
Just a thought.
