Hi Tom, I remember reading a post from Dean Wixom stating that "forget everything" you have head about heaving-to when it comes to the NorSea 27. He explained that with the cutaway fore foot design, a headsail was not needed to reach the hove-to condition. Sounds like your experience as well.
