Bones,

Hope it did not sound as if I was claiming the idea. I also read Wixom's
article, and tried it successfully when it absolutely had to work (i.e.,
middle of the night, huge beam seas, howling winds, water lapping over the
lee rail, full sails, and no help). Sensible people practice this maneuver
before such a situation. Regardless, there is nothing that ends the chaos
so rapidly.

Hi Tom,

I remember reading a post from Dean Wixom stating that "forget everything"
you have head about heaving-to when it comes to the NorSea 27. He explained
that with the cutaway fore foot design, a headsail was not needed to reach
the hove-to condition. Sounds like your experience as well.

Thanks,

Bones
