I have been in contact with a person in PA to organize a one night messabout on the Chesapeake but they did not want to lead it.
I did see a notice about a 150 mile RAID being planned for 2010 in the NC area. I saved it away but of course can't find it right now. It was to be modeled after the Texas 200 and was being sponsored by someone from NC who was in it. He did not want to drive all that way when the local area is quite suitable. You might check some of the forums on the Texas 200 looking for this post. I have thought of sponsoring 1 on the Chesapeake for a while but haven't come across a suitable locations. Most of the messabouts are for beachable boats where most people drive to and camp for the weekend. Are you interested in a messabout or a RAID style event? I host a non-advetised Montgomery boat Chesapeake bay Cruise every year which are 3 - 7 day cruises with no competive flavor whatsoever. These are the short variety if I participate in a two week North Channel style cruise. It is very difficult to find a launching area that will handle 20 - 50 boats and trailers for a few days. How does the BEER cruise handle the launching and parking issues? The Texas 2000 is more of an adventure cruise that caters to the same class of beach cruisers. If you were to sponsor one I will work with you to make it happen. It would provide a good forum to share all of your thesis work. We may even turn it into your PhD orals presentation ( tall slurred tales?)
