Jeff,
My experience with the older mylar sails was the same. My M17 had a Mylar
genny that shedded mylar like crazy. I don't know of a fix for it , but someone
might.
As for the rudder, mine is definitely symmetrical. I don't know why you
would ever want an asymmetrical shape, but maybe there's a reason. Jerry???
By the way folks....for those wondering whose Montgomery 23 has been shown
on the Event Calendar page of the last few SCA's (Pg 46 on this current
edition), it belongs to Jeff and his lovely wife Chris. 'Jo and I had the
pleasure
of meeting them on their return trip to Washington State from picking
"Clarity" up in Tucson, AZ where they purchased her. It was nostalgic for me
to see
Clarity as she is THE 23 that got me interested in Montgomerys some 20-25
years ago. She belonged to a good friend of mine, a Montgomery dealer, and I
sailed on her many times dreaming of the day I might finally have my own.
Clarity wasn't quite ready to be re-launched when they visited us, so we all
jumped on Dauntless for a jaunt around the lake. I can't wait to see Clarity
in
person after all the work Jeff has done to her! Hopefully we will see each
other in June for the San Juans/Gulf Islands cruise.
