A question to all dealers and collectors out there. I assume both are
represented in our beloved MOPO. Now, I as a collector see prices also go up in
other dealer auctions beside to Bruce and Grey's auctions. This is an up
market and prices go up, way up. We are on a ride. Supply and demand, once
again. Demand is higher than supply, currently. Look at real estate? One year
ago, there was one bidder for one building, this year there are 15 to 20. What
do you expect? Prices go down? Sure, prices go way up. Remember, interest rates
are down, FED has raised interest rates higher, meaning economy is on a rebound.
So, What? There still so much great stuff out there to get not just the top
items. Collect or buy WHAT you like or exit. I have seen two downturns in movie
poster prices in the last ten years. Everyone thought this recession will last
forever, everyone thought lets save money and dont purchase posters. I did the
same. Sure, everything rebounds and prices are up, then compared to the last
three years, sure, or 7 years for the CAT People one sheet. I need to mention
the Tarantula half sheet as well because this is just another factor. I feel
that collectors are rather willing to purchase from someone that is reliable.
But than I feel like the one sheet Rear Window from a non-poster collector is
saying something different. I feel that whoever buys now for ridicouls prices
will find themselves in a little trap. It always happens in a rebound, way up
and slower and then down. The economic life cycle. Prices will go down again,
for sure. This times it is going way up, the quicker we will fall. I feel
comfortable that this is a sellers market and not a buyers market. During the
last three years it was a buyers market. In fact, I know that some collectors
are just looking at Bruce auctions every week. How could yo uever do that? As a
collector, you have to watch and HUNT down everything. I will, for certain, look
at most of EBAY and direct dealer sales again.
It is a very fun rise. It is funny to hear NOTHING from dealers during this
question. Just from Grey and Jr, that's it. Mostly from us, collectors. I know,
for dealers its a ride and heck I buy as well. So, anyone selling good stufff,
please let me know. Remember, most collectors know that they might sell one day
so that's a reason to purchase for what they think realistic prices. Everyone
Happy Holiday and Happy New Year 2005.
