Greetings fellow MoPoers...
A belated Happy New Year to all.
For your enjoyment and consideration I have currently up for auction on eBay an assortment of 12 original release silent and early-Talkie Lobby Cards from Paramount, Fox and MGM. These pieces come from a collection which was discovered in the early 70s under a row of seats in an abandoned theater in upstate Vermont. Would you believe stacks of complete Lobby Card sets, used only once? It makes my heart jump just to think of it.
A lot of history here and simply beautiful to look at, while they're around... and if you're so moved to bid, that's OK too. Reasonable opening prices and no Reserve.
Here's a sampling, with their eBay numbers:
3868907839 CHASING RAINBOWS (MGM 1930) featuring a young Jack Benny in the front row of the chorus! 3868912410 FOR THE DEFENSE (Paramount 1930) Intense scene with William Powell confronting a couple of thugs in neckties. 3868913270 FOLLOW THRU (Paramount 1930) A sweet close shot of Nancy Carroll on the links at the country club. 3868898088 WEST POINT (MGM 1928) Metro's resident wise-guy Billy Haines sets The Academy on its rear. 3868899590 PARADISE FOR TWO (Paramount 1927) Richard Dix's pledge of love to Betty Bronson lands with a thud. 3868905413 HIS GLORIOUS NIGHT (MGM 1929) Hardly. Given John Gilbert's Talkie debut, Mayer and Thalberg weren't impressed. 3868917338 SUNNY SIDE UP (Fox 1929) Shop girl Janet Gaynor arrives at Charles Farrell's Long Island estate to sing "I'm a Dreamer" dressed to the nines.
Many thanks for checking these out.
