I just think it sucks..
I'm not sure where ebay gets it's advice. Or even if they seek it. I know they used to have dealers on the payroll to visit conventions to promo eBay, but everytime they tinker it makes it even more difficult to prevent exactly what eBay says they are trying to. Like shill bidding. The new system of bidder 1, bidder 2 makes it more difficult to research for shills. Now they also want it to be more difficult to see the real feedback on anyone

I think it's simple.. eBay is killing the golden goose as far as sellers are concerned and secondarily as collectors are concerned

in 2001 I did $10K each month from June-August. My expenses were something like $600 each month. That has risen to stratospheric expenses now in comparison, and if you don't have at least 50% sell through, your economic realization from sales gets fairly pathetic (I'm talking auctions, not stores)

ebay has become the behemoth that like Godzilla or the Beast From 20,000 fathoms just walks over everyone & everything. If there is a building or a car in the road, just stomp it. These heavy handed issues are just one more reason that eBay has not been gaining members since 2005 and why they have been losing dealers - like myself - who were once powersellers

This is why I was so happy to take over MoviePosterBid and start ComicBidZ
I no longer have to pay ebay one cent.

one more incredible thiung about ebay.. the gal who works for me started selling on ebay to supplement herself. She has made 22 sales and of those THREE MORONS thought they were getting a DVD. In a full year and hundreds of sales on MPB, only 1 person thought I was selling them a DVD. That speaks more about how stupid the bidders are than it does of eBay ignorance however. at MPB, I guess WE DO have a more intelligent & educated buyer!

I am a little curious.

I sent a post a couple of days ago to MoPo asking for opinions on the new feedback system that eBay has introduced (see my email below). I have seen a great many posts to MoPo over the years complaining about the feedback system and its disadvantages. Many posts have been highly critical of the old system for a variety of reasons. It has taken eBay a long time to finally roll out this new revised system and yet there was only one response to my post with an opinion on it.

Does this mean that there is little interest in the changes that have been made? Are all of the people who posted complaints about the old system happy with the new system?

The new system has already commenced in some countries and I have already left ratings for a couple of sellers. Part of the feedback that is left will be hard to trace so it will be anonymous to all intents and purposes. It is possible that you could leave a positive rating for a seller but then leave very low ratings in the detailed star system on the same transaction.

Do MoPoers have an opinion?

John

Subject: [MOPO] NEW FEEDBACK SYSTEM for eBay

I just completed feedback for a seller using the new system that has been introduced in certain countries. Apart from making an overall rating you are also asked to rate the 4 other aspects of the transaction. I rated the seller...

How accurate was the item description? Very accurate

How satisfied were you with the seller's communication? Very satisfied

How quickly did the seller post the item? Very quickly

How reasonable were the postage and handling charges? Very reasonable

The cumulative data will appear on the main feedback page of the seller so that even if you have a one hundred percent record of positive feedback you could have a poor record in, say, the buyers opinion of your postage and handling charges.

It appears that as I am registered in Australia I can leave this feedback on any seller irrespective of the country they are registered in.

There is no option for the seller to leave detailed feedback eg How fast was payment? Did the buyer communicate? Did the buyer complain that they thought they were buying a video? etc etc.

This is an interesting change to the feedback policy which I think has been introduced to protect those who are afraid of retaliatory negative feedback. They will still probably give a positive rating but can show any displeasure about the transaction in the ratings. Apparently, it will be difficult for sellers to find out who has left ratings for them.

What you all think about the new system.

Regards
John
