Tom: I believe your observations are as mine, as I saw nothing slack about the horror prices. In fact the "Black Cat" half sheet was the very same copy that I sold in July of '02 for $32,200 and was re-consigned. It sold yesterday for very close to three times the original purchase price of five years ago. Would not be a bad investment for your money! And what about the beautiful condition "Creature From the Black Lagoon" which brought a world's record price of $20,315. And the "The Man Who Laughs" half sheet? Considered one of Universal's earliest horror films and it fetched $19,120. If I am not mistaken that very same copy was purchased on eBay about six years ago for $6000 to $7000. The "Mystery of the Wax Museum" title card sold for $11,352. That is undoubtedly twice what that card has ever been purchased for. I am sure you are aware that I sold the "Black Cat" one sheet in the last Signature auction for $286,800. If these are slack prices, let's hope for the same fate of all great movie posters!

Bruce - what do you base this on? $90K for Black Cat half sheet? Attack of the 50ft Woman 3sh $21.5K? Cabinet of Dr Caligari lobby for $21.5K etc. Seem pretty healthy to be me. I suppose the Raven 1sh 'only' went for $44K, near the low estimate, but that is one ugly poster, with the book taking up most of it. I've just had a quick glance at the horror section and most pieces seem to have realised prices in the upper end of the estimate if not above. When it comes to the Universal horror stuff, aren't the high prices simply case of supply vs demand? Do others of you agree with me, and if so, why do you think this is? Is it a one-time phenomenon, or is horror finally beginning the slow decline that has afflicted so many other once "hot" categories? > > While I personally love the top horror/sci-fi titles, the prices HAVE seemed "out of whack" to me for some time (after all, for the price of a single 1930s Universal one-sheet, you can have an entire COLLECTION in most other genres!). > > What do YOU feel? > > Bruce > > Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com > ___________________________________________________________________ > How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List > > Send a message addressed to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L > > The author of this message is solely responsible for its content. > > Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___________________________________________________________________ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
