My thanks to all of your who replied to my posting. It was interesting to see
the diversified collecting among the group. My wife has always wanted to
collect something to the degree that I do but she loses interest after a short
period. Her latest attempt is collecting figurines and things with a Robin on
it (garsh.... how original for my wife who is named ..... you guessed it.....
 Robin)
I think a lot of us started collecting when we were very young. Maybe not
necessarily what we collect now but a lot of what we collected are getting
obsolete to young collectors now. Stamps in the US have nearly disappeared
with all the metered mail or online postage. Animation cels from newer
cartoons are non-existant with computers doing most of the work. With the talk
of replacing new movie posters with digital panels in the theatres, another
item could disappear. I am sure there are other things like this that have
disappeared as a collectible but can't think of what they are right now. Now
there are a few things that have disappeared and we may not regret such as beta
movies, CED disc movies or 8 track tapes but they sure were the 'cats meow'
when they were out - weren't they.

Collect what you love and love what you collect...!

       Rick
