Just finished reading The Fox That Got Away, about the last days of the Zanucks
at 20th Century Fox.

Robert Altman was only paid a director's fee for MASH, one of Fox's biggest
hits in years at a time when the studio was on the ropes.

When the picture became a HUGE surprise box office success, it was suggested
Altman should be rewarded with a percentage of the gross. But Grace Kelly
talked the board of directors out of it, saying: "Don't you dare give that man
a penny for that terrible movie!" Altman didn't get his percentage.

  Subject: [MOPO] GRACE KELLY

If you're in New York, you might want to visit Sothebys where they are having
an enormous exhibition of
things belonging to Princess Grace. There is an auction also, a very large
one, which goes on for
  almost a week of sessions.

For those who are interested in her, the November issue of TOWN AND COUNTRY
magazine has some very nice
  photos and writing about her.

  Visit Sothebys website at Sothebys.com.

  Or you can go here:

It is the 25th anniversary of her untimely death. It is remarkable, I think
that in 1954
Grace Kelly made DIAL M FOR MURDER, REAR WINDOW, THE COUNTRY GIRL (AA-BEST
ACTRESS),
GREEN FIRE, THE BRIDGES AT TOKO-RI. Many have remarked that Alfred Hitchcock
was in love
  with her.

  But then, who wasn't?
