Wow Dave.... I hadn't heard that one before. Well, she came from an older time
and a family that was very prim and proper and probably saw that film as
X-rated in her book. I saw her in several interviews over the years and, while
I always loved her in film, I sensed that she had a bit of a cold side to her.
I thought maybe she was just a bit shy and that's what I chalked it up to. I've
often thought maybe she regretted giving up her life of acting. I've read books
on her by friends and while they don't say it directly, I get the feeling she
didn't quite know what she was getting herself into and was very lonely in the
early days of her marriage. Who knows? She was so beautiful that I can't even
look at her and think of anything negative. I feel bad for Hitchcock, who I'm
sure was very smitten with her. As Kirby said, who wouldn't be. She left a few
old flames in the dust in 1956 on her way to Monaco. It is sad, though, that
she died so young andstill as beautiful as ever.

Just finished reading The Fox That Got Away, about the last days of the
Zanucks at 20th Century Fox.

Robert Altman was only paid a director's fee for MASH, one of Fox's biggest
hits in years at a time when the studio was on the ropes.

When the picture became a HUGE surprise box office success, it was suggested
Altman should be rewarded with a percentage of the gross. But Grace Kelly
talked the board of directors out of it, saying: "Don't you dare give that man
a penny for that terrible movie!" Altman didn't get his percentage.

If you're in New York, you might want to visit Sothebys where they are
having an enormous exhibition of
things belonging to Princess Grace. There is an auction also, a very large
one, which goes on for
    almost a week of sessions.

For those who are interested in her, the November issue of TOWN AND COUNTRY
magazine has some very nice
    photos and writing about her.

    Visit Sothebys website at Sothebys.com.

It is the 25th anniversary of her untimely death. It is remarkable, I
think that in 1954
Grace Kelly made DIAL M FOR MURDER, REAR WINDOW, THE COUNTRY GIRL (AA-BEST
ACTRESS),
GREEN FIRE, THE BRIDGES AT TOKO-RI. Many have remarked that Alfred
Hitchcock was in love
    with her.

    But then, who wasn't?
