Am I the only one who really enjoyed "The Brain That Wouldn't Die"?

I saw this recently and just loved it! A must see, if you ask me.

Hi Richard

That is the first definition that I am familiar with, yes.  But then there are the later interpretations of the term that can apply to Ed Wood films and Attack of the 50 ft Woman and The Brain That Wouldn't Die and such.  Films that follow the lower-budget ideals and the other original 'B' characteristics but that also helped usher in a looser definition that younger film fans have broadened to include anything viewed with an eye towards enjoying the lack of popular professionalism and such.  I was just wondering what this exhibit is being based on and what others thought the term now means to most movie-goers.  Are they looking to display 'Man In The Dark' or 'Pink Flamingos'?

In an A feature, Lana Turner or Hedy Lamarr or Veronica Lake would be the femme fatale; in the B feature, it would be Audrey Totter, or Lizabeth Scott or Faith Domergue and the like.
Some of the B movies are "campy", Bad Girl movies, like MAN BAIT or PICKUP, or SO YOUNG, SO BAD (which wasn't considered campy in its day)...but not all. Many great film noirs were actually made by "B" talent, like Dennis O'Keefe and Tom Neal, and the director Edgar G. Ulmer.
Does this help?

Hey all

What, exactly, is the proper definition of the 'B' movie?  I know that it was an actual type of movie made by studios that featured 'lesser' stars and budgets but it's also been co-opted by later cult movie fans for anything that seems 'bad' and unintentionally funny or campy.  Are either of these wrong and how is this gallery defining 'B' movies?  Just wondering as I think I have a few posters representative of the latter style of B that I mention.

Take care,
Michael
