Franc,

if Richard is decent, funny AND honest...then he is a 'triple-threat' and has no business being on this list.

I am shocked by how this list grows tiresome with the increasing number of high-quality members.

I knew I should never have wanted to join a club that would accept me as a member!

I would like to go on record and say that I was NOT offended by Richard's response. Nor do I think his response was inappropriate. What I do think is inappropriate is publicly airing a personal grievance with a member on this board in an attempt to embarrass him, forcing that member to then publicly responding. You could have written to Richard directly or phoned him to discuss the matter and frankly you probably would have accomplished a lot more. I have met Richard several times at various shows and found him to be a decent, funny guy and an honest seller. FRANC

Dear Members,
I’m certain that you read Richard Halegua’s email listed below. I don’t think that anyone likes to hear that type of language and tone on this site that’s meant for information purposes. I propose that we ban such language in any future communication amongst us.
Best wishes,
Irv
P.S. To respond to Mr. Halegua, I did email him when he announced his new auction site and invited members to participate but received no response.

You know Irvin, your email has so many incorrect statements I can't hardly point them out, but I'll try

first of all, I'm not sure what you mean when you say "invited us to join" I don't believe I sent you any special invitation to do anything, though I did in 2006 and again in 2007 and again earlier this year advertise that I am open for dealers who wished to get away from fleabay and sell on MPB. Unfortunately, no one wanted to, no matter how much griping they were going to do about fleabay and at some point I decided that having MPB open to sellers I did not know personally may not be the right direction for me to take the site. As such, there is no link to request seller status on MoviePosterBid.

I will of course happily look at requests from people on a one-on- one basis

But because the fees are so low at MPB, I realized that even if other dealers sell the lofty goal of $1,000,000 in sales.. I only get $35,000, which begged the question "do I really want sellers at all?" after all, I might have to hire someone to deal with all the problems for dealers & buyers which would wipe out any value - if $35,000 was much of a value to begin with - and to have competitors for my own auctions is probably also a negative.

Phil Edwards said "There is, however, little doubt that MPB is now presented with its greatest opportunity to function as a specialist poster (and comics/pulps etc) site and build its functionality to allow professional and full time dealers to utilize its interface to a fuller advantage" and for professional, full time dealers the site is still open, on the one-on-one basis. There are definitely dealers who have no chance of ever listing anything on my website because I may not trust them, because their reputation stinks, or even because I just don't care for them. The Phil Edwards's, Channing Thompsons, Bruce Hershensons, Moe Everetts and Grey Smiths will always be allowed to sell on MoviePosterBid

I have a feeling, because of your rude behavior.. that Irvin Gelb will never be allowed to sell

But there's more.. You sent me the link to your poster listings at fleabay.. Hey, if you think your prices are some kind of bargains.. then you better start looking at people's results again, and then come to the conclusion that your prices are way over the top for anyone

concerning your belief that I am jealous of your sales at Profiles in History...

LMMFAO

You have to be kidding.. I could care less what you or any other gets for anything. Big effin deal what you got. My question was more along the lines of "what could this schmuck have been unhappy about with Profiles that he wants to sell the stuff himself?" Of course I know.. it's because even on your Wasp Woman poster you think that the astronomical result wasn't good enough for you. and for absolute clarity.. the only person on earth I'm jealous of.. is Michelle Pfeiffer's husband

Look.. there's an old line "you slow, you blow"
I tried to tell people that "fleabay is headed in the wrong place for you and that you should join MPB now"
you didn't come, and now the door is locked.. suck it up

one more thing.. the fact that you took my private response and posted it to MoPo means you wanted to - in your tiny little mind - try to embarrass me in some way. The only thing you succeeded in was embarrassing yourself, and getting yourself told off to boot

now go back to your little corner and stand there until poppa says you can come out and have dinner

best Regards

Hi Richard,
When you invited us to join your new poster auction site you never
responded. I thought that you didn't receive my email but now it's come to my attention that you are jealous of my successful results with Profiles in History last year. I have more posters in my collection and just wanted to
help you out by bringing some high end titles and see how we could do
together. I was also going to refer other big collectors to you. How odd that you show such keen jealousy - I thought that your site's intention was
to bring more sellers to help build up the business. Unfortunate and
perplexing that you're taking another position. I can't understand why the results of my Profiles auction would have anything to do with selling more
posters on your site.
Best wishes,

Hi Irv

I did get your emails

right now, I'm not adding any sellers
Sean is one of my very best friends and he is always welcome to sell..
other people who have supported me are also welcome.. but at this
point, I'd rather have the site for just a few people

one reality is that even if people sell a million bucks worth.. it
isn't worth alot to me based on % and so I prefer to not really have
competitors

but I have a question for you.. if Profiles did so well for you.. why
aren't they selling more of your stuff???
