I don't like in the percentage game. I need loaded dice. In the first place it 
is the daring gems that sparkle, not the average (with all due respect to the 
craftsmen like Wyler). In the second place if a director has made10 bad movies 
he has made too many.
I'd say a series like the one Dave here mentions or one like A Matter of Life 
And Death - The Small Back Room - Black Narcissus - Red Shoes - Tales Of 
Hoffmann - Peeping Tom or Citizen Kane - Ambersons - Lady Of Shanghai - Touch 
Of Evil - Chimes At Midnight or Ossessione - Senso - The Damned - Death In 
Venice. In slightly more recent times TAxi Driver - Raging Bull - Goodfellas - 
Age Of Innocence is a pretty decent score. Tarantino needs to make a few more 
really good movies to come into view.
