They do make acrylic large enough for a 6 sheet, but it is not UV filtered or non glare coated. Non glare is a bit of a necessity when framing something this large, otherwise, it looks like a mirror in your room. Alan is right, you have to use a wood frame and you have to have a back frame made for it. So, imagine an oil painting that gets stretched around a wooden square. Once the outer wood frame is built and the plexiglass, poster and foamcore backing is put in it, you put a back frame in all of that (so the main frame has to be deep enough to accomodate all the ingredients). Then the back frame gets nailed into the main front frame but the hanging straps are put on the back frame and not the main frame. The main frame is pretty much just decorative at this point as you can put a hanging wire or D rings on that as the stress is too much. That's why you put a D ring on each of the two vertical sides of the back frame and hang it with two hooks or nails sturdy enough to accomodate the weight of the overall piece.
As for the plexiglass, you have to find a place that will take a regular piece of 1/8" thick acrylic and have it treated with a UV coating and, preferably, a non glare coating. That cost is probably going to be the most expensive component of the frame. I have had a few other customers hang 6 sheets like a tapestry. They linenback it and leave excess linen that they can put some grommets in the border to hang with decorative chain. You would also put some grommets in the bottom of the excess linen so you can put a wooden dowel behind the bottom of the excess linen to hold everything down so the linenbacked poster doesn't roll up on you.. Just some thoughts on how people have done it in the past. I no longer frame 6 sheets as it's a lot of work to do.....
