Dale, don't think it's fun to RECEIVE anything from outside the EU in Germany these days... The empty suits from EU HQ are really having themselves a ball over here… It used to be that there were no import charges in Germany for goods up to a value of €22. They did not charge you if the applicable VAT was less than €5, or €10 for commercial importers. NOW they are charging from the first Euro: If I buy a CD in the UK for €1, they will charge me 19 Euro-Cent Import-VAT PLUS a €6 fee for DHL Germany for the import procedure, €6,19 total for a €1 product.

If you calculate a moderate total weight, this should cost you maybe €10 or so per year. Might be worth the effort.
