Hi Tina Klenovsek I deal with FA, I work with leaves of some trees. I do Elliptic Fourier Analysis, think It serious analyses for shape, I am using some indexes characterized the form, and try correlate it with FA.
I am using "point & click" software. Hope my reply can help Best regards Sergey. ----- Original Message ----- From: "morphmet" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "morphmet" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 10, 2007 10:36 AM Subject: RE: Outlines (Fourier) vs. Semi-landmarks > Hi Tina- > > We did a bit of work looking at how different outline methods compared, > when attempting to classify avian specimens into age categories based on > the outline of tailfeathers, using several semi-landmark methods and > several pure outline methods. > > The paper is available at > > http://www.frontiersinzoology.com/content/pdf/1742-9994-3-15.pdf > > and while it is certainly not definitive, we found semi-landmarks to be > at least as effective as pure outline methods, when used as input data > to a CVA analysis. > > This paper also includes some useful references. > > -Dave > > > > H.
