Hi Sandra,

I had a similar problem with MorphoJ, I understood from Pr. Klingenberg
that we should precise in input the landmarks dimension
So for example, for 3D data your write LM3 = number of landmarks , but
for 2D you write LM= number of landmarks

Did you try TPS format ?

For 3D, imagine two shapes described with 4 landmarks
*LM3* =4
10    12    30
15    30    -45
12    23    -26
100    78    -34
ID=Shape1
* LM3*= 4
...
...
...
...
ID = shape2

For 2D, imagine two shapes described with 4 landmarks
*LM*=4
10    12
15    30
12    23
117    77
ID=Shape1
*LM*=4
. .
. .
. .
. .
ID=Shape2

The coordinates are separated with tabulation (\t)

I hope that's help you

Best,

    Dear all,
    For my diploma thesis I work on skull shapes of Desmognathus species.
    Therefore I get my landmark data with a reflex microscope and saved
    the data for every specimen in an extra excel file. I took 20 dorsal
    landmarks and 23 ventral landmarks and put them all in one file.
    After that I saved the data for every specimen from this excel files
    in a tab delimited text file and put them into the file converter, to
    create a text file for MorphoJ.
    Now here is my problem: there seems to be no depth in my data on
    MorphoJ. The x and y coordinates look right, but all z data are on a
    single line. Does anybody have an idea what is going wrong?
    I have tried a lot of things to resolve this problem and want to list
    them shortly:
    -       look at the data in a coordinate system (x and y, x and z, y
    and z)
    in excel, they look right and there is a clear depth
    - saving in different txt file types – nothing changes
    -       retyped the z-data
    -       different excel types (97-2000, 2003, 2010)
    - only dorsal views, only ventral views - they are flat, too
    - some data are negative, so I just added 10 or something, to get
    positive values
    Did anybody else have had a similar problem like me? Or did anybody
    have an idea to resolve the problem? I would be very thankful, because
    now I´m quite despaired.

    Thank you a very lot!

    With best regards,
    Sandra Triepel
