Clarissa, TPSDig has a tool for digitizing
outlines so that they're saved as outlines and
are read directly by the 'old Morpheus'. I've not
done this for year but it should still be there.

Another option (painful one) is to sharpen the
outlines manually in a software like photoshop
(by the way, there's a free full program of its
2005 version called psd CS2 or something like
that) and then detect them automatically in
TPSDig. This is what I did in an old paper of
mine in Acta Theriologica and also in a more
recent one in Lethaia (Ferretti A., Cardini A.,
et al.

without a Lord? Enigmatic fossils from the lower
Palaeozoic of Bohemia and the Carnic Alps.
Lethaia, in press: DOI: 10.1111/let.12004: pdf at
https://sites.google.com/site/hymsfme/drandreacardini/publications).
Fig. 9 of the Lethaia paper will show you what I
mean. Bear in mind that we did not use a
conventional analysis of outlines in that paper
but a kind of extended semilandmarks approach for
structures with no landmarks at all. However, the
data collection is the same you'd do for outlines
with the exception that with outlines you may
need a common starting point unless you use
Haines and Crampton's method (Haines, A.J. &
Crampton, J.S. 2000: Improvements to the
method of Fourier shape analysis as applied in
morphometric studies. Palaeontology 43, 765 –
783) and the software by the authors or possibly its implementation in PAST.

For running the old Morpheus in recent computers
there's a number of tricks one may try. For
instance, using the command line version and a
few DOS commands, it might run in DOSBox. In
Linux it runs fine using Wine (works, I believe,
for both the command line and window version).
In Morpheus there used to be an help file,
although I am not sure if it gave information on
everything. I seem to remember also a doc
documentation but I may be wrong (could have been
for GRF-ND). Also, there might be a bunch of
'famous' secret commands for a few specific
operations. Dennis will tell you more.

Good luck

Andrea
