In the school that I am working in I have watched a fifth grade class do book clubs. The children are in groups and they pick a certain book as a group. Each group in the class is reading a different book. Everyday they pick a reading skill to work on the next time they meet. For example, one group might work on infering what a certain chapter may be about or they might decide to work on main idea of a chapter. At the end of each group meeting the students discuss as a group what they did and they write it down. I really like this idea because the children are practicing skill and strategies that they already know together.
