Hi Melanie, I don't use questions words per say but instead I model asking authentic questions as I'm reading. I often start my questions with the following phrases: I wonder why or I wonder if or something to that effect. Pretty soon, the kids start doing the same. Elisa Waingort Calgary, Canada Hello! I am currently teaching 1st grade and I wanted to ask your advice regarding books to teach Questioning. I have introduced the unit already, but my kids are having difficulty forming actual questions. I have brainstormed a list of question words, but I was hoping that you could give me some ideas on how to better facilitate this reading strategy. Thank you!
