Hi Tim,
We met earlier this year in Maryland and you took my business card. We
talked about tape assisted readings to help with fluency. I have been
experimenting with tape-assisted readings with some of my students. Two have
made huge
gains, a third, has improved, but not nearly as much. Naturally I am thrilled
about the two kids who made huge gains, but I am upset about the third
student. I am trying to figure out what to try next. I was wondering if
reading
level mattered herewith the tape recorded books. This particular student is
dyslexic with severe memory issues and ADD. He did make gains...the first
change
in his reading level for two years, BUT he didn't improve in leaps and
bounds. In reflecting upon this, I wonder if the speed of my recording needs
to be
slowed down (or maybe speeded up???) or maybe I need to find something
closer to his level...
Do you have any thoughts on this?
Once again, thank you for all your hard work on behalf of students! I have
been a big fan of yours for several years now!
