We had a work shop run by a lady out of California, her name is Judy Puckett. She changed my teaching reading/writing life and the life of my kids. Everything you read and know, just all comes together. She has a great folder, resource that you can refer back to. Whilst she is a 'six trait' expert, so much of what she says and does is about the reading/writing connection. I will ask her for permission to send you her email address if you are interested but she's fantastic. She's doing the rounds 'internationally' but I know she does a lot of presenting in the states. Thanks for the lead on 'cracking the Author's code'..I just ordered Mentor texts yesterday. That looks great as well. S

It lists multiple mentor texts AND comes with a DVD. He does a couple of the lessons for YOU on the DVD (for the student to view). It also has other items on the DVD for teachers only.
