My interview went well today. I will be going back for a follow-up on Monday, where they will video-tape me. Today I was recorded. Whew!
I taught a lesson focusing on using visualization to summarize and predict. I based it on a lesson in "Super 6 Comprehension Strategies" by Lori Oczkus. The principal brought in four girls who had just finished 4th grade, and they were awesome! Since I knew nothing about them or their reading abilities, I read aloud from The Castle Corona by Sharon Creech. Luckily, none of them had read it yet, so they were able to predict without already knowing the story. I actually had another interview with another district this morning. It also went well, and I'll go back on Tuesday morning for an on-site interview with the building principal. Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts! When it rains, it pours...literally and figuratively this summer!
