Beverlee is correct. The average age for children internationally to learn
to read is 7 or 8. In America the average age children read is 6. Some read
earlier and some later. It is strictly developmental. The parents should not
pressure him at all, but they should continue what they are doing. One day
his reading light bulb will come on and he'll read like there's no tomorrow.

The best place to look for this answer is internationally. We are the
