I have some strong recommendations for nonfiction leveled readers for your K-1 age group.? The following are, in my opinion, the best on the trade book market ( and every bit as good as the inflated priced "school book market" titles.? I am basing this on text features and quality of writing:? Time for Kids readers by Harper Collins, Extreme Readers ( by Frank Schaffer), SeeMore Readers ( by Seymour Simon) - Chronicle Books, and Lerner's Pull Ahead series.? You should find plenty of titles to fit your science themes.? Eyewitness Readers aren't bad either, but tend to be rather irregular in reading levels.? Hope this helps.

One of my goals is to spend the first 5/10 minutes on a nonfiction skill. I have taught 2-5th, so I'm good with these grades, but would like some advice on k/1. Please send me any ideas, even if they are not nonfiction suggestions. Anything will help spur the thinking process and application of skills!? Thanks,?
